Halloween 2007

We had a great Halloween. Maddie and I quickly finished up all the decorations. She was the guard of the Halloween pumpkin filled with candy. She was so excited. She has been waiting for this day for a long time now. Maddie had a new friend to Trick or Treat with this year. She was spiderman and very cute. They are so much alike. It was so fun to watch them. They were brave but afraid at the same time. They screamed all down the block at anything scary. It was even more fun to hear them talk about it.
This is our friend Leland. He wasn't really excited about Halloween this year but he was a sweet boy and didn't complain at all during our Trick or Treating.
Grey has had it will all this Halloween stuff. He fell asleep in daddy's arms towards the end of the night.
Maddie and Avery were happy to be home. They each had a little candy and then went straight to serious playing. We had a great Halloween. Thanks to our friends who shared the evening with us. My little mermaid is safe asleep hopefully not too filled with scary dreams.

Halloween at School

Maddie got to trick or treat all around Daddy's work today. We walked to each department and the kids got special treats.

Butterflies

It finally happened the butterflies "were born" as Maddie says. We took them outside to let them go. Maddie was very happy with this. I thought she would be upset but she was excited to let them fly away. She held them and told each one goodbye.

Here is a picture of one. They were very pretty. We had a little issue. It appears that out of our 5 butterflies 2 were special needs. One just won't fly and the other one has messed up wings. We will keep both of them in the net and let them live out their lives right here with us. I am glad that there are two so one is not left alone. This was a great experience. I think that sharing things like this with the kids is a precious gift. Life is so fragile and important, it is never to early to teach a child that. She thanked God for her butterflies tonight and I thank God for such a sweet girl.

I loved these pictures because they show his blue eyes.
Daddy got home from work very early today. We really liked that surprise. Grey is really loving his daddy these days. He lights up when Joey walk into the room.
Ok I went to make lunch and Daddy was suppose to be watching the kids. He fell asleep and Maddie decorated him and then came and told me she was watching the baby so "don't worry". Poor Joey can't get a moments rest :)

Butterfly update.

We had 2 of the 5 butterflies born today. We are very excited. Maddie loves to watch them and of course to bug them. We hope the others will come out tomorrow and then we will let them go. I will take pictures tomorrow.

PJ Day

Grey hates his treatments so I put him in this bouncer and he does much better. He is such a good boy. I let the kids stay in their Pjs most of the day. It was cold and we had fun rolling around and playing. Grey is in love with his sister and watches everything she does. I am in trouble when he gets bigger.
Wow.... Grey is up on all fours. He doesn't really know what to do up there but he thinks it is very fun.
Old Hogan is a good boy. He puts up with a lot from the kids.
Sweet boy!!!!

Brookhaven Halloween party

This was the Brookhaven halloween party. The girls rode the tractor hay ride and had a lot of fun. Daddy was having fun too!!! Here is my little frog. It was all too much for him and he was fast asleep waiting for his sister to return from the ride.

Halloween begins

We have a lot of fun Halloween events planned this year. Our first event was at a friends church and it was a lot of fun. Grey went as a frog. It was a little cold so he had to bundle up most of the night. This is the girls all dressed up. Maddie is a Mermaid. When she saw Erin she just went crazy.

Even a Mermaid can pet the goats. Maddie of course loves the petting zoos. I think she may have her moms love of animals. :)
She lost the wig and got right to work on the putting green. The kids played games and then got some candy.

Soccer

Today was our last soccer class. We are going to take a break for a while. It has been a lot of fun. Maddie had a crush on coach "Luie" She would pout and he would take her hand and she would just light up. He was such a sweet and patient coach.

Butterfly Update, Bullies

We had a great few days with the caterpillars. They formed their chrysalis(cocoon) today. We actually got to see the last one finish. It was shaking really hard and Maddie couldn't stop watching it. Ok mom couldn't either. We are so excited and in a few days they will come out as butterflies. I thought she was going to fall asleep watching. Isn't being a mom fun?
Ok I am addicted to blogging. My poor child gets bullied and I blog it. We went to dinner tonight and she was playing on a playground they have and a not so nice boy pushed her down. She was such a brave girl. She came up to me with stuff all over her face and in her eyes. She really didn't even cry. My friend ( thanks Steph) helped her wash up and she was back out playing. It is so hard to see your child hurt or being picked on. We should all take a second and remind our kids how much it hurts when they are mean to one another. One of my greatest fears is that my children will be bullied or even worse perhaps be the bully.
Doesn't this look like a mug shot?

Bad soda!!

There aren't any pictures today only a funny story. Most of you know I have been a freak about what Maddie drinks. She didn't have anything but water and milk for the first 2 years and it wasn't until just before her 3rd birthday that she tried soda. Daddy gave her a drink at a Mavericks game. She was very surprised about the bubbles. We still don't give it to her but as most know I drink Diet Coke. A few weeks ago it became clear I had to lead by example and not drink it in front of her but better yet give it up. Anyway today We were talking about it and I said
"Soda is bad for your Bones" and she agreed but followed with But...
"soda is very good for my mouth" I just started laughing. She is so much fun right now. She sure is keeping me on my toes!!!!

Aunt Megan is the best

We had a surprise box waiting for us today. Aunt Megan sent a box filled with clothes from cousin Tate. I am so lucky that I have had great hand me downs for both kids. In this box was a special treat for the kids. Grey got several new toys and as you can see he likes to roll around and play on the floor. I am so lucky to have a sister like Megan. I miss her so much and she does such a great job at staying in my children's lives even though she is thousands of miles away. She never seems to run out of time to show Maddie and Grey that she loves them. It isn't the gifts but it is the time that a working mom takes out of her day to say hey I love you. She knows how hard it is for me to be away from family and I love her very much for making it a little easier. Maddie finally got her ants in the mail. It was too hot over the summer for them to ship. We will keep you updated on the progress they make in their new home. She also has a butterfly farm that is growing 5 very plump caterpillars. Stay tuned for the wonderful transformation.

Here is Maddie opening her box of goodies. A few bats and spiders go a long way in her book.

More pumpkin patch

Maddie playing in the jail.
What a handsome boy! This was his first time really sitting in grass and all he wanted to do was to eat it.

He got a handful a couple of times, but mom was quicker

Maddie being silly again. She was singing Jesus loves me!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch today with

friends. It was so much fun. Maddie ran around

and had the best time. She was so dirty and

sticky we had to go straight to a long warm

bath and I am still not sure we got it all.
Here are the girls picky out little pumpkins
Grey thought it was pretty fun to sit in a pot. Maybe not as fun as mom thought it was. He is such a good sport.

Maddie climbed up the very big haystacks. It was a little scary and I thought about all the things I did as a kid and I am surprised I made it. She thought is was very fun.

Nutcracker update

Maddie getting ready for her first Nutcracker
practice. I put her hair in little buns and she
kept running to the mirror to see them.

This is Maddie trying to learn the steps for the production. I don't know how they are going to get these 3 year olds to do it. She has actually steps to learn. I was so proud of her. She really tried hard and followed directions well. I am already nervous for the big night.

Maddie and Erin spent about 1/2 hour feeding this stone squirrel. They talked to it and had a whole conversation about the nuts he was eating. They are growing up so fast.
Maddie is eating one of her favorite foods "broccoli" I have been very lucky with her eating. Maddie would rather have a big pickle then a candy bar. I know that will change any day but for now I will enjoy her healthy diet.
